– Lost Wonders by Aurélie Davy –
Lost Wonders or “ Merveilles perdues des profondeurs” is how I would describe my artwork.
The technique applied is gouache using acrylic paint on canvas. I’ve chosen a round canvas as it is uncommon.
The painting is a contrast between light and darkness, divided into two marine ecosystems: a colourful one bursting out of a dull background in black and white.
The vivid colours demonstrate a healthy and lively aquatic life ,which reflects the treasures of our island. The dark surrounding ecosystem is polluted with trash, dead corals, oil spilt from vessels, plastic bags often mistaken by turtles to be jelly fishes and animals trapped in fishing nets.
Black and white colours have been used for this environment to show the bitterness of marine pollution which eventually causes the loss of these colourful wonders of the deep.
( little problem encountered: when submitting the pictures, they get blurry)
