Re: Generation
Ariana CziffraThe title coveys the ideas of generation – gap – regeneration – regards for generations past and to come, whilst depicting an underwater seascape that requires attention and treatment. The staining technique used here produces a composition that may appear unbalanced. Nothing is centred, things appear out of place or upside down, and yet there is movement and potential space for regeneration. The paper is « gondolé » rather than flat, and I imagine this piece floating in a frame, in a debris-like fashion. As kind of mise en abyme of the very real dimension that some art objects point to, beyond representation. The decaying process that is part and parcel of life in all its forms, as a condition for new forms to emerge on the side of life.
