PlacathoseThis artwork illustrates the gradual rejuvenation of coral reef of the south-east lagoon of our island. The MV Wakashio oil spill has destroyed the marine life of this region and left behind many ecological issues – an event we shall not forget. Through this painting, I wish to being a glimpse of hope as I believe that even after the most devastating ecological disasters, Mother Nature takes back her right and as we take care of new borns, we ought to take care of our coral reef. The various colours used show how rich and diverse our coral ecosystem is, also reflecting our Mauritian culture. As we preserve our multiculturality, we also need to preserve our coral ecosystem.
