Trapped Bronchioles

Mélanie Karen

Coral reefs are known as the rainforest of the ocean and consist of more than 4000 species of fish and other living organisms. They support a great percentage of marine life and can be reffered as the heart, and the lungs of the ocean due to how essential they are. Taking that for reference, my installation which is like a wind chime shows dead corals trapped inside man-made products like plastic bags, bottles, facemask, fishing thread, bottle caps etc. It is showing how apart from natural causes, our impact and pressure on the marine ecosystem is the main cause of its depletion and destroy its beauty. We would not want plastic bottles, bags, masks and other similar things to hang around in our house, then why would we want them to swim around in the ocean and destroy its ecosystem?
