viridity of the sea

Macha

“Viridity” means Naïve innocence, thus, the title translates as “Naïve Innocence of The Sea” . It portrays a Hawksbill turtle, a critically endangered species, with a plastic bag mistaken for a jellyfish unaware of the threat human practice can be to them. The majestic animal can be seen in the Mauritian waters for the lucky ones but might soon become a memory. The main canvas is surrounded by patterns of the brain coral, as example of the species affected by marine disasters such as the Wakashio oil spill. The background of the composition depicts the impact we have on our marine life through stains.
