SUBMITTING WORK

How many works can I submit?
1 Open and Hors-Concours: up to 3 works.
2Only submit more than 1 work if each of your works expresses different ideas.
3Young Artist: only 1 work.
4A single work can comprise multiple parts.
5Works can be collaborative (by more than 1 artist).
Which mediums and sizes can I use?
1 Most visual arts mediums are acceptable, for example: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, photography, video, animation, digital, street art (project proposal), sculpture, installation, textiles, ceramics, crafts etc.
2Size is up to you, but if your work is over 2m x 2m, please let us know.
Does my work need to be new?
1You can submit new or recent work (less than 10 years), as long as it was not entered in previous editions of the Samudra Art Prize.
2Older works may be submitted through the Hors-Concours category.
3Your work must be original, not a copy.
How do I submit my artwork/s?
1 Works will be judged online, so you should upload the best possible digital photos of your art. We will require at least 2 photos:
- 1 main photo of your work
- 1 photo of you (or another person) holding up your work or standing beside it (to get a sense of scale).
- You may upload 2 additional photos showing details or alternative views.
2 Look on the internet for tips on photographing artworks.
Are there any tips for creating my work?
1 Start by doing some research on our Inspiration page.
2 This is quite a wide brief, see what sparks your imagination... You may do figurative, abstract or conceptual work.
3 For your piece to be strong, it must engage the viewer and increase their awareness of the theme. You can give a short explanation of your work on the submission form.
4 You might choose to highlight the positive aspects (exquisite beauty of plants, animals, landscape etc) or the challenges facing our ecosystems (loss, destruction, pollution etc). This can be through the depiction of nature, people etc.
5 You might want to explore some of the following characteristics: colour, beauty, patterns, diversity, fragility, interconnectedness etc.
